Gardeners in Cho Gao District are actively lighting the plants and caring for them to encourage red dragon fruit to bloom out of season.

The Price of Yellow-Skinned Dragon Fruit is 3-4 Times Higher
Due to the health benefits of yellow dragon fruit, consumer interest has increased, along with the challenges in exporting red-flesh dragon fruit. Recently, garden owners have shifted focus to cultivate and expand nearly 100 hectares of yellow-skinned, white-flesh dragon fruit. This new and unique variety offers high productivity and quality. Yellow dragon fruit is priced significantly higher than red and white-flesh varieties, at 3-4 times the price. As a result, the cultivation of yellow dragon fruit has expanded in Cho Gao District as well as in Tien Giang Province. This diversification contributes to broadening the range of crops in the area.

The strong advantage of yellow dragon fruit is that it can be kept on the tree for up to 1 month and the longer it is kept, the sweeter it becomes. Next, this dragon fruit variety is less harmful to productivity than other varieties. In recent years, although other dragon fruit varieties have fallen in price, yellow dragon fruit is still sold for more than 25,000 VND/kg.
