VIET NAM DRAGON FRUIT
Dragon fruit (Hylocereus undatus) belongs to the cactus family, originating from Central America, especially Mexico. In the 1950s -1960s, dragon fruit trees began to be widely grown in the Southern provinces in Vietnam, especially Binh Thuan and Long An, where the climate and soil conditions were suitable.
In recent years, advanced technologies such as drip irrigation, using organic fertilizers, and applying GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) standards have been widely applied. Vietnam started exporting dragon fruit in 1995, with the main markets being Asia (China, Thailand, Malaysia), Europe, and more recently the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
Dragon fruit has an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium, fiber and magnesium. One fruit has only 60 calories but contains 2.9 g of fiber. Therefore, it becomes the perfect fruit to reduce aging and is good for heart health, also known as “super fruit”.
